NoriWatch Privacy Policy

NoriWatch is a media player for Apple TV and iPad that plays videos from your own network storage (SMB shares / NAS). It is built so that your data stays yours: there are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers operated by us. We — the developer — receive no data whatsoever from the app.

What the app stores, and where

On your device only

• The connection details of the network shares you add (server address, share name, username).
• Share passwords, stored exclusively in the device's Keychain. Passwords never leave the device — they are not synced to iCloud and never written to your NAS or anywhere else.
• Your media library index (file names and paths found during scanning) and cached video thumbnails.

In your personal iCloud (visible only to your Apple Account, never to us)

• Share metadata (names/addresses — never passwords), so shares you add appear on your other devices.
• Watch progress, favorites, and playback preferences (subtitle/audio choices), so you can pause on one device and resume on another.

This uses Apple's iCloud Key-Value storage tied to your Apple Account. We have no access to it. You can disable iCloud for NoriWatch in your device's iCloud settings.

On your own network storage

• A small, encrypted state file (.nori/.state.enc) is written to each share you use. It contains watch positions and playback preferences so progress syncs between devices even without iCloud. It lives on your own hardware and is encrypted so casual browsing of the share does not reveal your watch history.

Network connections the app makes

• Connections to the SMB servers you configure, on your own network.
• Optionally, if you play the built-in sample video, it streams from the Blender Foundation's public server (download.blender.org). No identifying information is sent beyond the standard network request.

That's the complete list. The app makes no other network connections — no analytics endpoints, no crash reporting, no update checks.

What we collect

Nothing. The App Store privacy label for NoriWatch is "Data Not Collected."

Children's privacy

NoriWatch does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
